How can I get some scripts of plays/stories for young children that have good lessons?

My friend and I wanted to start making puppet shows, but the hardest part is making up a script. Is there maybe a book or website that could help me out?
Actually, the lesson/moral is not so important, but it’s preferable!

Boy I know what you mean. Writing scripts is tough!
I’d go to the Puppeteers of America website. They have a nice selection of scripts there.
Also, if you join, you’ll have access to their video library so you and your friend can watch some shows in action. It’s always a good idea to do that. But pay attention to the audience reactions if you can hear it. That’s the best lesson for what works and what doesn’t.
The only real rule I follow when making a skit (Punch and Judy is all skits) is that I make it with the adults watching it in mind. If it has jokes for all levels, children won’t feel you are talking down to them or lecturing. Nothing pleases kids more than if their folks are laughing too–it gives them license to let go.
Yes, I have written several such plays that could be adapted to puppet shows. They are all audience participation, which means the audience are asked to talk to the characters in the play and usually play the townspeople of the kingdom. Some times they get up and inter act with the characters which they could do by standing next to the stage opening. My stories all have a storyteller that controlls the response of the children and usually plays a part with the characters as well. I am willing to sell you a copy of one my plays with the right to produce it for $25. For more info, click on my name and read my profile and write to me at may aol address.
